So hi guys. We all need a good Festivus. I'm thinking Canyon Lake again this year. Everyone is ready to go. So also a lot of people are wanting to eventually phase a third night into the trip. This year I don't think I can do that, but next year I will phase a third night into the trip if everyone wants. Some have also suggested phasing it into a week gradually. That is also a distinct possibility. For now, this yearm due to me having no vacation time, it will have to be for a weekend. I will keep you all informed. And remember, i will be down the first weekend in November as well.
1st-Apr-2007 05:47 pm - Sending out an SOS
I'm probably going to give myself an ulcer before the month is over. I can't get my damn nerves under control. Late nights asking myself why I took this job knowing I was going to be leaving all my friends back here. The month is probably going to blast by and then what? It's been getting me sick lately.
This weekend was cool hanging out with everyone. Guitar Hero is addicting, now I want to get a copy of it. Today I am continuing to box things up to ship. I will be down in Galveston next weekend for Easter. Hope to see everyone
27th-Mar-2007 10:36 pm - Festivus will go on
So several people are asking what will happen to Festivus in the future? It's not going anywhere. I will still coordinate Festivus 08 and beyond from the crows nest (wherever that may be). Just because I might have to fly to Austin for Festivus doesn't mean I'm not going to have it. I promise you all this. Festivus was started by me two years ago and I'm not about to let it die off. It's our tradition

So I've been out of pocket for a bit and it's time for an update. I'm now managing editor for the Taylor Daily Press. I'm finding that to be increasingly harder but I guess it's the challenge that I asked for. Things with the family continue to get progressively worse. I talked to my grandma today and she was really upset, which really sucked to hear her so sad. The Saline Reporter in Michigan called me to tell me they set up a drug test for me to take in Austin on Tuesday. They told me I was their top candidate for the editor-in-chief of their weekly paper. So.. the ball is rolling on that. This weekend I hung out with Taylor and Miranda and the Austin crew. It was cool seeing everyone, especially since I never get to see anyone that actually lives up here in Austin. I've been thinking a lot about a lot of things this past week. It's been interesting. Still confused as hell. I took Kristen out for her birthday only to find out that she got back with her boyfriend, which was kinda shitty to hear. I don't really want to go into work tommorow, which is bad because you are supposed to enjoy the place you work at. However, trying to save a dying newspaper is no easy task. That's your 30-second nutshell.
Well the photography workshop in Ft. Worth went well. The only thing was they seemed to imply unless you have thousands of dollars of equipment, you can't take good pictures. I guess we'll see what happens. Friday I ventured further north and hung out with Jenna till Saturday afternoon. That was cool. A lot of fun hanging out with one of my friends I haven't seen in a long time. We pretty much chilled at her apartment. Now I am playing catch up with laundry and other stuff. Monday is coming way too fast and I'm sure I have 500 emails at work since I was out at the workshop for the latter half of the week. That's pretty much all I got. trying to get down to Galveston sometime soon, but not sure when.
8th-Mar-2007 11:19 pm - They killed off Capt. America
according to The New York Times:

Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, was killed by a sniper in Marvel Comics’ “Captain America” No. 25, which arrived in comic book shops Wednesday. The assassination came on the heels of “Civil War,” a big-event miniseries from Marvel that found Captain America leading the opposition to a federal Superhero Registration Act. “Civil War” ended with Captain America imprisoned after realizing he was out of touch with his fellow Americans and abandoning his struggle.

“It’s a hell of a time for him to go,” Joe Simon, 93, co-creator of Captain America, told the New York Daily News after being told of the death. “We really need him now.”

Simon and artist Jack Kirby created the character more than 60 years ago.

7th-Mar-2007 04:51 pm - Livin it up in Ft. Worth
So I am in Fort Worth for the rest of the week to attend a photography workshop. Unforuntely they put me up in this sweet-ass hotel, but I feel like shit, so I'm not really enjoying it. I feel like hell, but I hope to be better by the end of the week. The drive up (3 hours from Taylor) was long, but not bad. Now I am chillin in my room waiting for the group dinner at 6. Maybe there will be some hotties up here.
6th-Mar-2007 09:04 pm - There's no reason to be all dramatic
So I'll just say it. The Machester paper in Michigan that I thought was done with, has called and offered me a job, pretty much, as editor-in-chief of a weekly newspaper up there. The money is good and it seems like it will be a good shot in the arm. Am I back to sleepless nights? Yes. Have I told them yes or no yet? No. I am waiting to see if Taylor will match their salary. I haven't brought it up to my boss yet, but will this week because of the Manchester paper hires me and I tell them yes, I would have to be up there in five to six weeks. Scary thought? Yeah. There's a lot to consider. It is a good career opportunity, but it would be rough leaving all my friends. No decison has been made yet, but the paper has called me three times about the job. To further complicate things, Kristen (I used to work with her) said she might move back closer here so she can see me more. I will keep everyone posted on what happens in the next few weeks. Folks, if something does happen, I might have to throw a going away party together pretty quick (maybe) and if so, I hope everyone can be there. Like I said, this is all still so up in the air and no where near being finalized on either Taylor or Manchester. But, keep me in your thoughts. If you have questions, feel free to call me
... just ask Taylor!

This weekend was awesome hanging out with T&M up in Austin. Crazy times were definitely had by all.

.... Asians... is there anything they can't do?

That question for some reason pisses Sam off, which is pretty fuckin funny to listen to him rant.

Anyway crazy times
So in the past three months while conducting a semi-private investigation into the Williamson County Justice System, Travis County Medical examiner's office, Texas Rangers and various city PD's on a quest to disprove a Hutto woman was wrongfully convicted of capital murder for force feeding a two year old and sentenced to life in prison, I've been warned by several people if I dig too deep I may surface something that will fight kicking and screaming to stay hidden - the judicial system in Texas - which they say, will do ANYTHING to keep their secrets hidden. However, in the course of my investigation, I believe several people both in Williamson and Travis counties have both been wrongfully convicted and sentenced from anywhere from 50 years to life in prison for crimes they did not commit in the name of justice. My response to those people who tell me I am crazy for trying to fight the system - I will pursue the truth to the ends of the earth so bring it on
